Ekiti Decides: Security Forces Mobilise as INEC Moves Sensitive Election Materials

As preparations intensify for the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State, security agencies have commenced large-scale deployment of personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process. The mobilisation comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins the distribution of sensitive election materials to various local government areas and registration centers.

INEC officials confirmed that ballot papers, result sheets, and other critical election documents are being transported under heavy security escort. The commission stated that the materials would be securely stored and distributed to polling units ahead of election day to prevent delays and logistical challenges.

Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other law enforcement bodies, have assured residents of adequate protection before, during, and after the election. Checkpoints have been established on major routes, while patrol teams have been deployed to identified flashpoints across the state.

Authorities urged political parties, candidates, and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid actions capable of undermining the democratic process. Residents were also encouraged to report suspicious activities and cooperate with security personnel to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.

Political observers believe the election will serve as another significant test of Nigeria's electoral reforms, with stakeholders closely monitoring INEC's logistics, voter turnout, and security arrangements.
