Democracy Day: President Tinubu to Address National Assembly on June 12

President Bola Tinubu is expected to deliver a special Democracy Day address to the National Assembly on June 12, marking Nigeria’s annual celebration of democratic governance.

According to official sources, the address will take place at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja and will focus on key national issues including economic reforms, security challenges, governance improvements, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

Lawmakers are expected to attend a joint sitting of both the Senate and the House of Representatives to receive the President. The event is part of activities commemorating Democracy Day, which honours Nigeria’s return to civilian rule and the historic June 12, 1993 election.

Government insiders suggest that the President may also use the opportunity to outline policy priorities for the second half of the year, especially on inflation control, youth empowerment, and national unity.

The National Assembly leadership has described the event as a significant moment for executive-legislative engagement and national reflection on democratic progress.
